Alaina Suddeth was born in Rossville, Georgia, on 8 November 1994 to Kristy Suddeth, and J. J. Suddeth. Alaina began singing when she was just three years old. Following a long vacation of a year and a year-long break from school, she joined the children's choir. The singer sang at church restaurant, at family holiday gatherings and anywhere within a 30 mile radius from her home. Alaina was just 8 years old when she won the Southern Stars Pageant's talent contest. In the following year, she won the competition to showcase talent for children at Chattanooga's Riverbend Festival. The stage was used every year until she reached the age of 12, when she won the competition that enabled her to perform on the main stage of the festival. When she was ten years old, she travelled across the country to Orlando, Florida for the American Model and Talent Competition. She defeated 1500 competitors in the finals to win the crown. Alaina was a member of the Georgia Country Gospel Music Association's youth chorus. Alaina was twelve when she first made and many subsequent trips to Nashville. She performed at local bars that were on Broadway like Tootsie's. Alaina was born in the year 1989 was the winner of the WinniSTAR talent competition for young people who live at Lake Winnepesaukah. Alaina, Holly Witherow's cousin with a brain cancer tumor, inspired her begin singing. Prior to Idol, Alaina worked at CiC's Pizza.
